Your Guide to an At-Home Wellness Retreat
Have a plan
One simply cannot arrange an at-home spa retreat without proper planning. Making a list of all the necessities required is crucial for the perfect weekend. Make sure you have an itinerary for the weekend.
Make a room your sanctuary
Find a room in which you wish to arrange this magical event. It can be your room, the bathroom, or even your living room. Make sure it’s organized and clean for the retreat.
Create the ambiance
Light some candles, and get the right music playing. Make sure you have decorated the place beautifully, and add plants and aromatherapy.
Let the sun do the lighting for you
Minimize using artificial light as much as possible. This weekend is supposed to feel like a retreat thousands of miles away. Of course, if there is an emergency, or natural lighting is not an option lamps will suffice. Just don’t forget to turn off all forms of light in the evening so your house doesn’t burn down.
Calming music
Keep the music soft and sweet. Play something that transports you into a beautiful environment where you can detox in peace.
Find some yoga, mindfulness, and meditations to follow
Though this would be the best time for a technology break, some of us aren’t proficient in our yoga and meditating skills (unless you are, then of course do what you are best at). It’s okay to turn off your phone or laptop to watch and follow through yoga videos, mindfulness, and meditation podcasts.
Detox your diet
Eat clean organic meals, and avoid any processed food. Drink teas that help rejuvenate your body. Be nourished. Most people would suggest fasting since wellness retreats are notorious for their restrictive menu selection. I believe in properly nourishing your body and indulging in healthy food and fruit. Which is the best detox in my opinion.
